About This Product

What is NAD+?

NAD+, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a coenzyme found in every living cell. It shuttles electrons in the reactions that turn food into energy, and enzymes such as sirtuins and PARPs consume it to repair DNA and control genes.

Cell levels of NAD+ fall with age, which is why it sits at the centre of so much ageing research.

Why buffered?

NAD+ breaks down in water over time, faster as the pH moves away from neutral. This form is buffered to hold the solution near neutral pH, so it stays stable through the long incubations common in metabolism experiments.

What do researchers study it for?

  • Cell energy metabolism and mitochondrial function
  • Sirtuin and PARP activity
  • Ageing and the decline of NAD+
  • Comparisons with its precursors, NMN and NR
