About This Product

What is KPV?

KPV is a peptide of just three amino acids: lysine, proline and valine. It is the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH, a hormone best known for skin colour. KPV keeps much of alpha-MSH’s anti-inflammatory activity without its colour effects.

How does KPV work?

  • Into the cell: in gut studies it entered cells through PepT1, a transporter that carries small peptides.
  • Inflammation signals: inside cells it lowered NF-kB and MAP kinase signalling, two main switches for inflammation.
  • Gut models: in mice with colitis it reduced inflammation, including when it was given by mouth.

What do researchers study it for?

  • Gut inflammation and colitis models
  • Skin and wound inflammation
  • Delivery research, such as nanoparticles that carry KPV to the colon
  • Blends, as the fourth peptide in KLOW
